A long neck banjo is a 5 string banjo that has 3 extra frets on the lower register of the neck than a standard 5 string banjo. Long neck banjos are have a standard tuning of Open E Tuning as oppose to the standard Open G Tuning that is found on standard scale 5 string banjos.
